Fun with Purpose
Shriner Clowns

First and foremost, the Clowns exist to support the work of the

The Shriners Hospitals for Children®

That's why, we encourage as many Nobles as possible to participate in the Parade Unit. We, not only, have a very colorful float, but also the most noble cause: "Making Kids Smile as well as Helping Children in Need".

Our purpose is to bring to the young and old, and particularly to the physically-challenged children in our community and elsewhere, the tonic of frivolous fun that will add to the enjoyment of life and promotion of the physical and mental healing, and to bring to the Nobles of the Shrine, and their families, a greater appreciation of life by means of capricious clowning!

We actively participate in many different parades and unit fundraisers, namely, the Shrine Circus, clinics for Shrine patients, and other Chapters' functions as well as visiting local hospitals.

Each clown develops his own unique character, provides his own costume and does his own make-up.  In the character-development process, the senior or more experienced clowns mentor new clowns and assist them in learning clown skills and how to perform.  Most of us have been "Class Clowns" all of our lives.

Our social activities are many and the fun doesn't end with the event!  It's not uncommon for clowns to stop at a restaurant after an event to eat and entertain (terrorize) the patrons and staff.

So there you have it.  You can just grow up and get older or you can "join us and have fun!"

We extend an open invitation to you to come to one of our meetings, talk to us and consider joining us as we spread the joy that brings a twinkle to their eyes and a smile to their faces.
